Workers want employers to show them the money

A United Culture survey of more than 1,000 global workers shows 55% percent of employees said a good salary was a top factor that made them feel most fulfilled at work, according to HR Dive.

Regarding factors that contribute to employee fulfillment, a good salary was followed by collaborating and “doing something worthwhile”; workers did not feel as strongly about feeling valued by co-workers, sharing values with peers and receiving recognition from a manager.

Salary and a good benefits package were top factors for workers when looking for a new job, with flexible work not far behind.

United Culture noted economic volatility and the cost of living could be driving workers to place more value on a good salary and benefits package. And although the inflation rate has dropped significantly in 2023 compared with the past two years, workers who experienced economic pressure may still be cautious or want a salary increase that aligns with the current cost of living.

An October report from human resources consulting firm Robert Half found two-thirds of workers plan to ask for a raise before the end of the year, and one-third said they would seek a new job if they did not receive a raise.
